Aadhaar Update Made Easy: New App to Change Phone Number, DOB, and Address Instantly (UIDAI)
New Delhi: There is news of great relief for Aadhar card holders. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is preparing to launch a new 'e-Aadhaar' mobile app, which will make Aadhaar updates possible while sitting at home. This app will be available on Android and iOS platforms, which will free millions of users from visiting Aadhaar Seva Kendras. According to reports, this app can hit the market by the end of 2025.
This new app of UIDAI will bring Aadhaar services under one roof, where users will be able to update their information without going to any center. The current mAadhaar app has basic features like download and virtual ID, but there is still dependence on the online portal or center for updates. The new app will speed up the process with technologies like facial recognition and QR code verification, allowing users to get instant confirmation.
Reports indicate that the e-Aadhaar app's development phase is almost complete, potentially leading to its launch by December 2025. UIDAI has not made any official announcement yet, but news coming from September confirms this. After launch, it will be available for download on the Google Play Store and App Store, which will benefit millions of smartphone users.
With the help of this new app, users will be able to update their date of birth, mobile number, address, and other important information in their Aadhar cards in just a few minutes. The special thing is that the date of birth can now be auto-verified by directly linking it to government documents like a PAN card, passport, or driving license. However, for the time being it will be necessary to visit the Aadhaar Seva Kendra for a change in name or photo. UIDAI has also announced that online update services will remain completely free till June 2026, which will provide additional convenience to the users.
The mAadhaar app was recently updated on 28th October 2025, which emphasizes privacy and portability. But the update facility is limited. The new e-Aadhaar app will make it an 'all-in-one' platform, where everything from download to PVC card order can be done from mobile. This change will make the Aadhaar system more digital and user-friendly.
If your Aadhaar update is pending, start the process immediately by visiting the UIDAI website uidai.gov.in or the myAadhaar portal. Download the app only from official sources upon launch and keep in touch with helpline 1947. This step will simplify the lives of crores of Indians.
